THE demolition of a former car wash and valet centre is expected to go ahead, after planners deemed that permission was not required.
Alderley Edge-based property development company North West Portfolio Ltd – part of the Emerson Group – had applied to Cheshire West and Chester Council for approval.
They said the white, timber-framed valeting bay in Old Warrington Road, between the Witton Street and Albion Road junctions, had become 'unsafe'.
It is anticipated that the demolition job down to slab level could be completed in around four days.
A CWAC planner said prior approval was not needed under the General Permitted Development Order.
They added: "Given the small scale of the proposed demolition and restoration works and its location, it is considered that the prior approval of the method of demolition and any proposed restoration of the
site is not required."
