A GUITARIST consistently voted one of the best in the world is bringing his solo show to Northwich in November.

Martin Simpson, one of the UK's finest acoustic and slide guitarists, headlines the next Salt Work Sessions at the Lion Salt Works on November 23.

Simpson is listed in Gibson Guitars' top 30 acoustic guitarists of all time, and Acoustic Guitar readers voted him in as number 12 in the world in 2005.

Now, he will play at the historic setting with a solo performance starting at 8pm after doors at 7pm.

His remarkable intimate solo performances show an artist at the top of his profession, whether this is interpreting material from traditional songs or singing his own songs.

Simpson is known as a remarkable storyteller and for bringing passion, sorrow and beauty to his material through his captivating playing.

He is equally at home playing English traditional folk, American folk and blues and his own compositions.

Cllr Louise Gittins, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “I am delighted that this performance is being held in the historic setting of the museum as it will lend an intimacy and atmosphere to the night.

"For anyone who wants to hear acoustic and slide guitar played by the very best in the industry, this will be an unmissable night.”
