HOLMES Chapel Youth Council leaders have won praise for their ‘eloquent and inspirational’ talk about the launch of the council.

Theo Castle and Bella Mac are chairman and vice-chairman respectively of the youth council, which is a sub-committee of Holmes Chapel Parish Council.

They are students at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, and represented the youth council in a national forum discussing the council’s successful launch.

The parish council clerk said: “They were so eloquent and inspirational. It was a big deal for them as there were 70 to 80 delegates, but they certainly rose to the occasion.

“There were delegates in tears because they were so inspired by them. The response they had from delegates was great and so positive.”

A school spokesman said: “Bella and Theo were a shining beacon of everything the youth council stands for.

“They talked to an audience of 80 people about the council and their experiences of being part of it.

“They answered questions and gave a presentation on why they wanted to be involved in the council, what skills they had developed and what impact they are having in the community.”

The aim of the youth council is to help young people become involved with village life.
