MOTORISTS should not be driving at more than 40 miles an hour past pedestrians and children.
So say police after 23 drivers were caught speeding in Macclesfield Road, Holmes Chapel, over an hour on Friday.
The motorists were recorded exceeding the 30mph limit, with the highest speed recorded being 45mph.
During the speed enforcement PCSO Liz Chesters stopped and talked to many parents with pushchairs or who were walking to collect their children from school.
A police spokesman said: “Macclesfield Road has extremely narrow pavements in some parts, and under no circumstances should we be seeing speeds in excess of 40mph whilst driving past pedestrians and children.
“All recordings of the drivers caught on our speed gun will be sent to our central ticket office where they will either receive fine or points on their driving license. Please slow down.”
