A WOMAN has been fined hundreds of pounds for fly-tipping at a recycling centre.
Lucy Smith dumped ‘a large amount of domestic household waste’ outside Stockton Heath Recycling Centre in August last year.
She was found guilty of a fly-tipping offence at Warrington Magistrates Court last month.
Smith, from Runcorn, was fined £220 and told to pay court costs of £150 plus a £30 victim surcharge.
Cllr Judith Guthrie, Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “Residents should always deposit waste responsibly.
“Dumping waste outside of a recycling centre when the facility is clearly closed is reckless and irresponsible.
“Residents and visitors to Warrington must ensure that they assist the council with their enquiries into illegal waste disposal.
“If you pay someone to take items away, you must ask to view the appropriate licence to ensure that they are a registered waste carrier.”
