CARE home residents joined in celebrations for the BBC’s Music Day 2019 with an afternoon of music attended by family members and special guests.

The event was held at The Willows care home in Mobberley, and was led by music therapist Michaela Dolan, who provides weekly music therapy sessions at The Willows and other MHA care homes.

Knutsford Guardian:

“MHA have been working in collaboration with the BBC to support Music Day 2019,” said The Willows administration manager Louise Gray.

“We invited the Mayor and Mayoress of Cheshire East, Cllr Barry Burkhill and Sue Bidwell, and Sean Ray, a representative from Age UK, to observe a session and see how music therapy can benefit the wellbeing of residents suffering from dementia.

“All our residents and families joined in enthusiastically, the Mayor and Mayoress said they were moved, having observed the affect music therapy can have and the benefits for our residents.

Knutsford Guardian:

“Our residents were overwhelmed by the special visit from the Mayor and Mayoress, with one resident saying it had been the first time they had met a Mayor and Mayoress.

“It was very heart-warming for a resident of 104 years old to still be having first-time experiences.”

Thanks went to Booths supermarket for providing cakes for the event, and to The White Orchid for providing flowers.
