A POPULAR footpath through the Bongs in Goostrey has been reopened after a bridge was repaired.

Cheshire East Council closed the path after concern was reported about the condition of the bridge near the start of the path between Blackden Lane and Mill Lane.

Knutsford Guardian:

The bridge before the repairs were carried out

The footpath winding its way through the ancient woodland was shut until the bridge had been repaired and was safe to cross.

A council notice at the entrance to the Bongs said the closure was necessary to prevent the likelihood of ‘danger to the public due to a collapsing bridge’.

The path has been reopened in the past few days following repairs to the bridge.
