DANIELLE Bound believes Warrington Wolves Women will give a good account of themselves in Super League, if they can get past Barrow in Saturday's promotion decider.

The Warrington-born and bred forward scored two tries in helping the team overcame Huddersfield 36-4 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday to reach the Championship final.

It is rewards for Bound, who represented England in the 2013 and 2017 World Cups, for all the travelling she does to play for the team - as she now lives in Portsmouth!

“I’m glad I’m here with the girls in the final, let’s see where it can take us," she said.

"Hopefully we can come away with the win and bring the trophy home for the club.

"If we can get into Super League it will be phenomenal.

"As a team we are coming together and are getting even stronger.

"I think we could do really well.

"There aren’t many teams in the Championship or Super League that could have done as well as us in their first year. Credit to the girls.”

Bound, who previously played for Thatto Heath - where many other talented Warrington girls ended up before Wolves' formation last December, was delighted with the outcome as the women made their first ever appearance at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday.

Over 1,000 supporters roared them home, while they have also been regularly attracting crowds of more than 500 for league games at their regular Victoria Park base.

“The support was massive," said Bound, who hails from Longford.

"We don’t usually get that many. It really stood out and riled us up and we went for it.

“We took our time a bit to find our feet but in the end we just played our game, took a step back, relaxed and it came off for us.

"We are made-up with the performance.

"We work for each other and that’s all we can ask for.

"It was a bit of a bonus getting two tries but I like helping to create them too and getting us over the line."

Head coach Lee Westwood paid tribute to Bound's role in this ever-blossoming team.

"Dan Bound is like a little whippet," he said.

"She certainly speeds things up, especially around the ruck area.

"There’s not many that can stop her when she comes into a bit of space.

"She travels from Portsmouth every week to come and play for us and that shows the commitment she has for this team.

"She’s the bright spark we need each week around the ruck area."
