KNUTSFORD resident Steve Elstone is appealing for donations of clothes, food and blankets for the homeless in Manchester.

Steve said: “I attended a talk given by Sid Williams, the founder of Embassy, a charity that offers homeless people accommodation and support on a bus.

“Sid has put me in touch with this group, which cares for people who have fallen on hard times and are on the streets.”

Embassy provides emergency beds for 14 people each night, seven days a week, 365 days a year, on an adapted and re-purposed tour bus.

Steve added: “Winter is nearly here so I would like to help – lets’ do something for the people who are not so lucky.

“Gaynor Qualter at the Lord Eldon has kindly agreed to store any donations at the Lord Eldon, and once a week I will take any gifts into Manchester.

“If anyone would like to donate any items you no longer need please message me on my Facebook page.”

Steve is asking for coats, waterproofs, gloves, warm hats and scarves socks, jeans (smaller sizes especially) tracksuit bottoms, T-shirts and warm jumpers, as well as new underwear, sleeping bags and pay as you go mobiles.
