CYCLING fans Andrew Malloy and his wife Nicole pedalled their way to fundraising success by completing a 100-mile tour of Cheshire East.

Cllr Malloy and Nicole are the Mayor and Mayoress of Knutsford respectively, and have raised more than £2,000 with their cycle challenge on Saturday, September 21.

The aim of the cycling tour was to raise funds for Knutsford youth sports and a new skate park for young people in the town.

The tour was a key part of Cllr Malloy’s theme for his year as Mayor of promoting and supporting health living and leisure activities for the youth of Knutsford.

His aim is to encourage and support physical activity, whether that be walking, running, cycling, swimming, football, tennis, cricket or anything else. Cllr Malloy also aims to establish a starter fund for a skate park.

He said: “Thank you to each mayor, chairman and councillor who welcomed us to their patch along the ride, and to Knutsford Tri Club who joined us from Wilmslow to Dean Row, and the Alsager Harlequins Cycling Club who joined us from Alsager to Nantwich.

“But most of all, thanks to the cyclists who did the entire ride with my wife and I; Simon, Andy, Suzie and Melissa. We could not have completed this epic journey without their support.”
