QUIZ fans can put their knowledge to the test at Hazelmere House Bupa Care Home in Pinewood Road, Wilmslow.

The home is putting on a free quiz afternoon and traditional Sunday roast on Sunday, October 6 to support Silver Sunday, a national day of free fun and activities for older people.

The Hazelmere quiz and roast are aimed at older members of the community, their family and friends.

They will take place from 12.30pm to 3pm, with the fun quiz being followed by a homemade roast, offering two roast meats.

Wine, port and hot and cold drinks will be served for everyone to enjoy.

Silver Sunday aims to tackle the loneliness and isolation felt by many older people by providing social activities to encourage them to get out, try new things and meet new people.

Paul Bowman, general manager at Hazelmere House, said: “We know loneliness is a growing issue for older people.

“It’s great that we are in a position to support Silver Sunday by holding events at our care homes across the country, to offer older members of our community somewhere they can enjoy a fun activity in the company of others.

“I know our residents are looking forward to welcoming some new faces on the day.”
