THE air conditioning unit on top of a coach was scattered underneath Hawleys Lane bridge yesterday morning, Thursday after the driver tried to squeeze through.
A spokesperson for Mayne Coaches confirmed that there were no passengers on board and the driver was not injured.
Fibre glass and the air con pod on top of the coach were torn off as the coach made its way through the three-metre gap.
Police closed the road to move the debris and reopened it just before 9.30am.
No major damage was caused to the bridge or the bus which Mayne Coaches say will be back on the roads on Tuesday.
