FLU vaccinations for patients aged 65 and over or patients who will be 65 before March 31, 2020 will be available at the Lunesdale Surgery (9am-11.30am) on September 28. No appointment is necessary - just turn up. On October 14 again at the Lunesdale Surgery (6pm-7.30pm) flu vaccinations will be available for those under 65 who are at risk. An appointment is required. On October 25 (9am-11.30pm) there will be more vaccinations available at Hornby Institute. For further advice telephone the surgery on 015242-71210. 

TALENTED student dancers, singers and musicians of Queen Elizabeth School are giving two concerts with a single purpose of standing up to cancer. The concerts will be held on September 29 (5pm and 7.45pm) in the school’s Harlequin Theatre. All proceeds from the shows will go to Ovarian Cancer Action. 

AN ILLUSTRATED talk will be given by Tony Jolly entitled Antarctica to Arctic and Back on September 27 (7.30pm) at Mansergh Community Hall. Mr Jolly, a BBC producer for the Open University, worked on more than 300 programmes covering ecology, oceanography, astronomy and science. Tickets will be available at the door on the night. 

AGE UK is continuing to run gentle exercise classes on Tuesdays (11am-noon) in the Bective Room at the Lunesdale Hall.

 

CASTERTON...

HIGHLIGHTS Rural Touring Scheme works with an army of volunteer promoters and specialises in bringing live entertainment into village halls and community venues across Cumbria, County Durham and Northumberland. On October 10 (7.30pm) at Casterton Village Hall, Freeplay will be bringing you - A Capella Around the World. Tickets are available from Kirkby Lonsdale Tourist Information Centre.

 

CLAPHAM...

MEMBERS of St Matthews’ Church, Keasden and Newby Methodist Church, enjoyed a harvest supper and domino drive at Hammond Head Farm, Mewith. Guests enjoyed a hot supper and shared their own puddings and cheese.

MEMBERS of Bethel Chapel will hold their harvest supper this Saturday (7.30pm) when the speaker will be Alan Penduck. They will then hold Harvest Thanksgiving on Sunday with a family service (11am) and the youth service (6.30pm). Everyone is welcome. 

THE New Inn will host Church in the Pub on Sunday, September 29 (7.30pm) when the Rev Anne Russell, the team rector of the Ingleborough team of churches, will talk about living in a household with two faiths.
