SIX weeks of roadworks will begin at Kingsmead next month, as part of the new Dane Valley development.

More than 220 homes will be built on the Dane Valley after plans were approved on appeal earlier this year, with the development requiring access from the main road.

The Cheshire West and Chester Council roads scheme is set to begin on Monday, October 21 and will take approximately six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

A CWAC spokesman said: "This work is part of the new Dane Valley development and will include modifications to the traffic signal junction and resurfacing works on London Road.

"At some point London Road may need to be closed but motorists will be advised in good time."

Cllr Karen Shore, cabinet member for highways, added: “It is inevitable that these roadworks will cause some disruption due to their location.

"However, we have stipulated that the temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled in the peak hours and extended working hours will be undertaken to complete the works as soon as possible.

“Our Highways team is in regular discussions with the contractors involved to help keep disruption to a minimum.”
