YOUNG people are being invited to join the Knutsford detachment of the Army Cadet Force.

The invitation comes from 2nd Lt Callum Taylor, the detachment commander at Knutsford, which is based at Blackhill Road and is recruiting for new members.

He said: “Knutsford detachment is looking for new cadets who want a new adventure and want to learn new skills and make new friends.

“We parade on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm, and there is no need to make an advance appointment.

“The ACF is aimed at boys and girls aged 12 to 18 from all backgrounds.

“Our intent is to deliver fun and exciting training, some of which has a militaristic theme, in a safe and co-ordinated manner.

“The ACF is backed by the MoD, and though enlistment in the armed services is not mandatory, many of our ex-cadets go on to military careers and excel due to the lessons learned as a cadet.

“The training delivered is in line with the Army Proficiency Certificate, and we offer recognised first aid qualifications, the Duke of Edinburgh award at all levels, as well as a BTEC in public services.”
