THE Brighton Belle is offering rugby fans the chance to bag £1,000 and meet a former England player.

The pub in Middlewich Road has teamed up with Andy Goode to search for a Winsford superfan ahead of the World Cup campaign, which gets underway in Japan next week.

The competition, open via all Greene King pubs, involves writing 100 words or less about why you deserve the title of Winsford's biggest rugby fan.

There is a £1,000 on offer, alongside 'the ultimate rugby viewing experience' at the pub for England’s final group game against Argentina on Saturday, October 5.

The winner can also bring along five mates, with a VIP screening area and unlimited food and beer – as well as a chance to join in a rugby debate with Goode.

Amy Worthington, general manager, said: “Nothing compares to watching the rugby in the pub surrounded by other fans – the atmosphere and camaraderie is fantastic.

“At the Lodge we will be showing all key games for the Rugby World Cup and to celebrate the start of the tournament we’re looking for Northwich’s biggest rugby fan.

"We pride ourselves on being the home of pub sport in our local community with an unbeatable viewing experience of all the big games across major sporting events.

“So, if you live and breathe rugby and fancy £1,000 cash, as well as the chance to meet rugby legend Andy Goode, then we want to hear from you.”
