'Krazy Races' soapbox derby is coming to Castle Hill next June – and YOU could be part of it

Krazy Races will be held in Castle Hill on June 14, 2020, with entries open soon.

The first of its kind to be held in the town, the event is free to watch and an event village will be situated in Verdin Park.

Thousands of spectators are expected from all over Cheshire and beyond to cheer on the weird, wacky and wonderful soapbox entrants in their carefully crafted karts.

The teams will hurtle down a track consisting of chicanes, obstacles, water features and more to the finish line.

Around 40 to 50 teams are needed to enter the event in a knock out-style competition format.

Trophies are on offer, including for fastest winner, best dressed, most innovative design.

Northwich Town Council will be teaming up with the Sarah Belcher Events company to bring the event to town.

Event founder Sarah said: "We are bringing the smash hit Krazy Races to Northwich. There will be more fun than you can imagine, 'krazy' entertainment and lots of ‘wow, did they really just do that?’

"We believe that the event will capture the imaginations of the community and business in the area and together we can create a spectacular, unique and different event for the town.”

Teams are encouraged to raise as much money as possible for charity, with this year's Shrewsbury Wacky Races seeing teams raise over £20,000 for a variety of causes.

Town clerk Chris Shaw said: "We are working in partnership with Sarah to bring this welcomed additional event to the town’s diverse event programme that Northwich has to offer."
