IT is impossible to escape the major building works going on in Warrington town centre to create the new Bridge Street project.
So this week, we have gone back 13 years in our archives to 2006 to remember the last major changes in Warrington.
It involved demolishing the old Legh Street car park, built in the late 1970s, along with the pedestrian bridge that linked it to Golden Square and the old bus station.
Here the bridge is in two parts as the demolition work began
The work to extend Golden Square also saw part of Sankey Street removed from the map for good.
It is now replaced by the new extension to Golden Square where Debenhams stands.
The new £140 million Bridge Street project will create a cinema, restaurants, bars, a new market and council offices.
It is due to be completed early next year.
