FIVE fire engines were called out to deal with a house fire in Wilmslow late last night, Tuesday.
The blaze started shortly before 9pm on Alderley Road, and when firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered a detached house well alight.
Crews from Wilmslow, Poynton, Macclesfield and Greater Manchester tackled the fire, which involved both the ground and first floors and had started to spread to the roof.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used three hose reel jets and a main jet ladder to bring the fire under control.
After containing the fire to approximately 20 per cent of the building, crews extinguished the remnants of the blaze and used a large fan to clear the smoke.
Firefighters remained at the scene overnight to damp down the property and used a thermal imaging camera to check to hotspots.
There are no reports of any injuries at this time and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
