A STEAM locomotive which one pulled the funeral train for a king will pass through Winsford, Hartford and Acton Bridge on Saturday.

Britannia, British Railways Standard Class 7 70000, will haul a railtour from Crewe on Saturday, August 24 - departing shortly before midday.

The locomotive is hauling ‘The Palatine’ via Blackburn and Burnley Manchester Road.

Britannia will be added to the train to departing Crewe at 11.47am, passing through Winsford at 11.57am, Hartford at 12.01pm, and Acton Bridge at 12.11am bound for Todmorden.

On its return to Crewe, it will pass through Acton Bridge at 4.42pm, Hartford at 4.54pm and Winsford at 4.59pm.

Timings are approximate, and any onlookers are reminded to respect the dangers of the railway.
