A MUM who had to be evacuated from her home with her 18-month-old son after a fire from a cannabis farm had spread from a neighbouring property says it has been the "worst week of my life".

Millie Bullock, 19, and son Elijah were at home on Tuesday when a fire broke out from the neighbouring house on Riding Close, Clock Face.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at around 5pm on Tuesday, with fire crews at the scene for nearly two hours.

Police attended and seized a cannabis farm worth nearly three quarters of a million pounds.

Officers are working with the fire service to establish the full circumstances but say early indications are that the fire was caused by an electricity meter being bridged.

Enquiries continue to find the occupants of the property where the fire broke out and those responsible for the cannabis farm.

Millie and Elijah, who lived in the neighbouring property had to be checked by paramedics following the fire, and have had to stay in a hotel since the blaze, where they will have to stay for the next four weeks.

"I was in the kitchen and my son was in the back garden when it happened," said Millie.

"When we got out the house we were stood on the corner where all the smoke from the house came flowing towards us. The ambulance checked us and we were fine.

"The smoke went through the loft and the firefighters had to use hoses to stop the fire spreading. It created so much water it all fell through and had to be ripped down."

Millie had only moved into the property a few months previously and the house had just been decorated.

"I have only lived there for four months, it had just been decorated, we'd just done it up. We had re-done the children's bedroom and the carpet, everything was new," added Millie.

"It has been the worst thing ever. I didn't stop shaking for two days and didn't sleep, it was just unbelievable.

"You wouldn't think with your first house that it's gone within months.

"It has been the worst week of my life."

Millie has expressed her gratitude to the people in St Helens who have helped them by providing clothes and other items.

"A few people have helped us and donated some clothes. I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone in St Helens who has helped me with children's clothes, toys, nappies and everything they have done for us, including a woman called Tracey Purcell and everything she has done to help.

"St Helens, thank you."
