THERE will be cake, balloons and party poppers at a party celebrating the 30th anniversary of a Birkenhead shopping centre's opening next week.

The Pyramids shopping centre is inviting the town to celebrate its pearl anniversary at a birthday bonanza to be held in the unit next to Card Factory on Wednesday, August 21, from 11am-3pm.

Party-goers will take a trip back in time to 1989, where there will be a collection of images from Pyramids' past to enjoy, along with fun facts from the year and the opportunity to leave a birthday message for the centre team.

Young visitors will also be able to enter a competition to draw a picture of the ultimate birthday cake which will be displayed in the unit, with one design to scoop a bundle of goodies from The Entertainer.

Allan Beaumont, operations manager at Pyramids Shopping Centre, said: "We are really excited for this very special occasion where we will be looking back on 30 brilliant years.

"The unforgettable moments began from day one, when boxing legend Frank Bruno officially opened the centre.

"Since then we've welcomed other famous faces including TV actress, Dame Patricia Routledge who visited last year for the Wilfred Owen commemoration and who can forget the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit to Number 7 earlier this year?"

Allan continued: "We'll be showcasing images from the many great events we've hosted, so it's set to be a nostalgia-filled experience for all.

"Pyramids is very fortunate to have a lot of wonderful, loyal customers who have been with us since the start and still shop with and us now but come along with their own families and grandchildren."

He concluded: "This birthday celebration is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to Birkenhead for all the support over the last three decades, not forgetting our incredible retailers which have made it possible for Pyramids to reach this fantastic milestone.

"We look forward to the community joining us for our birthday get-together."
