ARSONISTS torched a phone box lovingly converted into a community library by volunteers in the early hours of this morning.
Vandals set fire to books in the phone box on Sandy Lane in Lymm at around 2am today, Tuesday – leading to the whole structure being gutted.
The Sandy Lane Book Swap scheme allowed residents in the area to exchange books for free on a trusting self-serve basis.
A Sandy Lane Book Swap spokesman said: "We left the bookswap spotless yesterday evening to wake up to this.
"We will now seek to rebuild somehow, perhaps that red phone box we always wanted - we have a great local community that valued this resource, and we'll be back even better than before."

One fire engine was sent to the scene.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service believe that the blaze was started deliberately.
A crowdfunding page has already been set up in a bid to create a new phone box library.
