EMILY Driver is setting her sights high after making an early mark in snowboarding.

The 10-year-old from Great Sankey recently won a national title just two years after starting out in the thrilling sport.

Emily, a student at Park Road Primary School who is also a member at Warrington Gymnastics Club and dances with Gullivers Star Studio, has not looked back since her first lessons with Chill Factore.

"Emily wants to be a professional snowboarder when she is older and would love to represent Team GB at the Olympics," said her sister Charlotte Kiernan.

"She wanted to snowboard because I already did, but had to wait until she turned eight so that she could do lessons at Chill Factore.

"As soon as she turned eight she started going for lessons and has loved it ever since."

Emily's gold medal in the under 12s category of the English Championships for snowboard cross was not her first success.

Last year she was first in the under 14s girls' category at the Snozone Castleford Snowboard Cross Championships despite being the youngest in her category.

She also claimed two silver medals at the Snozone Milton-Keynes Snowboard Cross Championships and the Manc Banked Slalom run by Cross Snowsports UK.

Emily has already had a taste of an Olympic medal around her neck too.

Charlotte explained: "She had the opportunity to meet Team GB snowboarder Billy Morgan last year and had the chance to wear his Olympic bronze medal."
