A CHARITY that supports young people’s development in Warrington is receiving £5,000 support from the Amazon team in Great Sankey.

The donation is part of Amazon’s commitment to supporting the community around the Warrington fulfilment centre by teaming up with a charity each year.

This is the second year that Amazon has supported Warrington Youth Club as the site’s chosen Stand Out Charity of the Year, having donated £6,000 in 2018.

Warrington Youth Club inspires young people to reach higher by offering opportunities to gain, increase and develop skills, knowledge, self-awareness and confidence.

The club enables young people to make positive life choices through a wide range of programmes aimed at different age groups.

The charity was nominated by members of the fulfilment centre team who are working with Warrington Youth Club to deliver a Dragon’s Den style employability session, mock interviews and further educational sessions in July and August.

The donation will in part help towards the Club’s Girls Group programme, which aims to improve positivity, outlook and aspirations for girls and young women and empowers them for their future aspirations and careers.

Site leader, Prashant Pandey, said: “Warrington Youth Club does such a great job helping in our community. We couldn’t be happier to be supporting the charity again as our Stand Out charity this year for the second year running. This initiative will help us support those working to make the community a better place for children and young people. We’re excited to see what we can achieve with Warrington Youth Club over the coming months.”

Leon Carroll, general manager at Warrington Youth Club added: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Amazon Warrington for their vote of support. The donation will make a big difference, helping us continue to provide young people in the area with an excellent facility whereby they can take time for themselves and also grow their skills. We’d like to take the chance to say a big thank you to Prashant and the team for helping us reach as many young people as possible.”
