YORKSHIRE Building Society Charitable Foundation has donated £2,000 to St Rocco’s Hospice where it has been used to fund a specialist mattress.

St Rocco’s Hospice provides high quality specialised care – along with a wide range of services – to support those who have been diagnosed with illnesses which are terminal, or life-limiting.

The donation from the Charitable Foundation meant a new specialist pressure mattress could be bought; designed for patients confined to a bed, which slowly moves them to avoid pressure sores.

Jacqui Chambers who works at the Yorkshire Building Society in Hale nominated the charity for the donation as she also works at the hospice part-time.

She said: “We’re committed to supporting good causes where our members live and work, and are so pleased we could secure a £2,000 donation for St Rocco’s Hospice from our Charitable Foundation.

"I know first-hand the fantastic work that goes on at the hospice and this new piece of equipment will really help patients that are receiving specialist care on site.”
