PLANS for a new 12-bedroom apartment block in Sankey Bridges have been given the go-ahead by Warrington Borough Council.
The three-storey residential building will be built on the corner of Bramhall Street and Old Liverpool Road.
Currently situated on the 804 square metre site is a former MOT testing garage, which will be demolished.
Robwood Construction, which submitted the proposals, said: “We believe the plans demonstrate it is possible to create a viable high-quality and unique development with architectural merit.
“In addition, we believe the proposed development can make a positive contribution to the area without adversely affecting the amenity of any neighbouring properties.”
Previous plans were withdrawn in December and then resubmitted in January to incorporate a revised layout and an additional storey.
The apartment block will be similar in size to the other properties on Bramhall Lane, and has provisions for 11 car parking spaces, 12 cycle spaces and two disabled spaces.
A number of objections were raised to the development which highlighted the already high volume of parked cars on Bramall Road and the struggle of residents to find parking spaces.
