AN Inmate at HMP Risley has been told he will remain behind bars for longer after causing damage to his cell.
Malachai Furey, who now resides in HMP Altcourse in Fazakerley, was brought before Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday.
Appearing via video link, he was charged with committing arson.
The incident happened on November 2 last year and in doing so, the 26-year-old destroyed contents in his cell to the value of £2881.57.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of arson and was given an additional 18 months in jail.
This is to be served on top of the sentence he is currently serving.
