THIRTEEN new homes could soon spring up in the back gardens of two Leftwich properties.

CB Homes has submitted plans to Cheshire West and Chester Council for two one-bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom homes, six three-bedroom properties and three four-bedroom homes on the site – behind London Road and to the south of Dunham Road.

Four affordable homes will be built on the 3,800sq m site – which would be accessed from a new entrance in Dunham Road – while 27 car parking spaces would be provided along with cycle storage for 24 bikes.

In a statement submitted to CWAC, architect Russell Baker said: “The proposed new dwellings would provide economic, social and environmental benefits within the highly sustainable Northwich urban area.

“Neighbour amenity is fully addressed and window distances often comfortably exceed the minimum requirements.”

Mr Baker added that the development would contribute to a ‘shortfall’ in affordable housing, while new trees would be planted to ‘continue to give the site a green character’.

But Cllr Andrew Cooper, Labour CWAC member for Leftwich, has some concerns about the plans.

Northwich Guardian:

He said: “One of the properties comes very close to the rear of the houses in Brooklands Drive, which may create a privacy issue.

“Additionally, I understand from residents that there is a small stream at the rear of the site that is used for surface water drainage from the neighbouring properties.

“With so much of the site tarmacked over, the issue of what effect this is likely to have needs to be understood.

“I would encourage any residents with concerns to contact me.”

Residents can comment on the plans until Tuesday, August 13.
