TRAFFIC was stopped on the M6 last night after a cow strayed onto the motorway.
Drivers were held on both carriageways at junction 19, near the slip road to the A556 at Tabley.
A local farmer arrived on the scene to help.
Emergency services worked with motorway police to manage traffic as the animal was caught and led to safety.

The motorway re-opened after the cow was secured in a nearby field.
The alarm was raised at around 10pm last night.
