TRAFFIC was stopped on the M6 last night after a cow strayed onto the motorway.

Drivers were held on both carriageways at junction 19, near the slip road to the A556 at Tabley.

A local farmer arrived on the scene to help.

Emergency services worked with motorway police to manage traffic as the animal was caught and led to safety.
