THERE are plenty of out-of-this-world space-themed activities to keep your children occupied this summer in Warrington- all under one roof.

Throughout the school holidays there is lots to get involved with at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, and Central Library, in the town centre’s Cultural Quarter.

At the museum, the Space Odyssey exhibition reveals Warrington's little-known connection to the Hubble Space Telescope and offers a fascinating interactive visit for young minds.

And there is a chance to get messy with Crafternoons - free, drop-in craft activities which take place between 1pm and 3pm every Saturday.

In addition, crafty kids can take part in free, drop-in sessions every Tuesday and Thursday during August between 10am and 3pm with the chance to make a variety of space-themed items including solar system hats, shooting comets and moon mobiles.

In the library, there is the annual Summer Reading Challenge that this year has a ‘space chase’ theme.

Youngsters can read six books on any topic to earn rewards and a certificate.

On Friday, August 9 and Friday, August 23, from 2pm until 3pm there are free space coding workshops in the library, with a space augmented reality book demo taking place from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Friday, August 16.

And on Wednesday, August 28 from 2.30pm until 4pm there is a digital alien robots workshop. All library events are also free although advance booking may be required on some workshops. Call 442 889 for more information.

The packed summer of activities come ahead of proposed closer links between the museum and library from September, when the building is set to be renamed Warrington Museum & Library and have aligned opening hours – including family-friendly Sunday openings.
