THE A34 Alderley Edge bypass is closed in both directions due to flooding following heavy rain at the weekend.
Cheshire East highways said on Twitter: "Due to heavy rainfall over the weekend, we are experiencing flooding in areas across CheshireEast.
"The A34, Alderley Edge is currently closed in both directions and the A6MARR is also closed due to flooding. Please allow extra travel time as congestion is expected."
Cllr Craig Browne, who posted this picture, said on Twitter this evening that the bypass was hoped to reopen this evening.
He said: "This is the view of Pendleton Way, Wilmslow [at 5.46pm] this evening as engineers from CEC Highways continue to pump flood water from the AlderleyEdge bypass.
"It is hoped that the road will be able to reopen this evening."
