WILMSLOW for Europe joined thousands of people on Saturday and took to the streets of London again in the March For Change, to say no to Brexit and the looming premiership of Boris Johnson.

Chris Foster, chairman of European Movement; Macclesfield and East Cheshire said: "Saturday in London was uplifting and important.

“Like all the pro-European marches, it was conducted in a spirit of positivity but also steely determination.

“The emphasis of the speeches was on the superhuman efforts and solidarity of grassroots campaign groups right across the country, like ours, spreading the word, providing an outlet for the anger of moderate people, and firmly rejecting the Brexit that extremists would impose on us.

“The mantra of the day was ‘No to Boris, Yes to Europe’, and the anti-Johnson feeling was extremely strong. The Conservative Party might think they have their man, the country knows it does not.

“Young campaigner Femi Oluwole, founder of Our Future our Choice, spoke passionately about how we will not be a United Kingdom that endangers peace in Northern Ireland, that turns its back on our European neighbours, that allows the politics of Nigel Farage.

“Naomi Smith, CEO of Best for Britain, thanked the thousands of campaigners, like those belonging to European Movement and Wilmslow for Europe, who go out week after week, talking to people, defending tolerance and diversity and saying no the politics of division and lies.”

Sarah Murphy of Wilmslow for Europe said it was good for morale to be together with other groups and to be thanked for the hard work and effort that goes in to ‘calling out the dishonesty and damage of the Brexit project’.
