HAIR salon director Ameilia Naylor’s eco-themed window display caught the eye of the RHS judges.

Ameilia is the director of Nicholas Austen Hair in Knutsford, a hair, spa and beauty salon which won an RHS competition for the best-dressed window in the town.

The contest was run in conjunction with the annual RHS show at Tatton Park, whose themes this year are bugs and insects and green/eco initiatives.

The display Ameilia created in the windows at the double-fronted King Street shop features logs and planting, and was judged the overall winner by the judges who toured the town centre to assess the entries.

Ameilia received two tickets for this year’s RHS show at Tatton Park, an engraved crystal vase and a framed certificate, which she is proudly displaying in the window to show her clients and passers-by.

Knutsford Guardian:

“I enjoyed putting the display together, although it was hard work as I have two very big shop windows, and was thrilled to win the competition,” said Ameilia.

“I have had lots of nice comments from clients, who have said how amazing and beautiful the window looks.

Knutsford Guardian:

“I thought the display captured the themes of this year’s RHS show, and went hand in hand with the product brand we stock, which is 97 per cent naturally derived and is all about caring for the environment and sustainability.

“The logs came from a friend who had a tree chopped down in their garden and cut the wood up into sections for me, and I plan to keep the display up until the end of August.”

There were 14 entries for the RHS best-dressed window competition, and the judges were taken on a tour of the town by Alex Brown from Knutsford Town Council, to show them the businesses which had entered.

The town council is also running its own best-dressed window contest alongside the RHS show in Tatton Park.

A total of 27 businesses have entered, and the public can decide who wins by voting for their favourite by ‘liking’ or comments on pictures of the entries on the council’s Facebook page.

Voting is open until midnight on Sunday, July 21.

Alex said: “A massive thank you to everyone who has created displays and has made this town beautiful with planters, hanging baskets and flowers galore.”

Julia Chard from Mr Simms said: "I asked my customers to dig in their sheds and let me have their worn-out wellies which were only good for the bin.

"I had a great response, and filled the wellies with plants and created our floral display, delivering on the RHS themes of eco, colourful and bee-friendly.

"I wanted to thank my customers for their wellies, and I will be donating them to local residential homes and nurseries when the show is over.

"We won a ‘Highly Commended’ from RHS tatton judges, which was fab."
