A 62-YEAR-OLD man has been taken to hospital after a suspected assault in Water Lane, Wilmslow. 

Police were called to the scene at around midday today, Friday, after receiving calls of an altercation between two men. 

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm but has since been released without charge. 

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Shortly before noon today, Friday, July 19, officers were called to reports of an altercation involving two men in Water Lane, Wilmslow.

"Officers attended the scene and found that a 62-year-old man had been assaulted.

"He was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"A 24-year-old man from Swinton was arrested on suspicion of a section 47 assault in connection with the incident. He has since been released without charge.

"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information that may be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 460633."
