PUPILS at Manor Park Primary School took part in a special graduation ceremony hosted by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs at Tatton Park.

The ceremony was the culmination of the My World project, which gave the year five children from the school their first taste of the world of work.

Local employers including Barclays, Bruntwood, Manchester Airport and Tatton Park provided the pupils with the opportunity to experience a variety of job roles within their businesses, including apprentices, property managers and firefighters.

The project run by the Manchester-based community development company OpenDoors2 worked with Manor Park Primary to develop life skills, increase aspirations and raise awareness of local job opportunities for children living in Longridge and Shaw Heath.

Daniel Mountford from Great Places Housing Group said: “It’s the second time that I have been honoured to attend the graduation ceremony.

“Seeing the enthusiasm of the children and the pride of parents and school staff was really pleasing, and we look forward to 2020.”
