GRAPPENHALL Heys Walled Garden has won a prestigious Green Flag community award for the third time.
Consisting of four acres, the Witherwin Avenue site is among a record-breaking 1,970 green spaces and parks in the UK and 131 in 13 countries globally to win the award.
It opens every day apart from Monday with a cafe serving food Fridays to Sundays.
Community outreach officer Kate Fitch said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the third year running.”
Ms Fitch added: “We know how much quality green spaces matter to our visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden to such a high standard.”
Green Flag Awards are given on an annual basis, meaning that winners must apply yearly if they want to retain their site’s status.
The eligibility depends on whether a space is freely accessible to the public.
Voluntary and community groups are considered and factors such as historical elements and conservation are considered.
