BLUEDOT Festival-goers can celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with a special interactive Velcro Brand experience at this year’s festival.

At Jodrell Bank from July 19 to 21, Knutsford-based Velcro Companies will be inviting people to experience the moon landing for themselves.

Families can discover what it’s like to be an astronaut, with the chance to wear a hook and loop jacket and sit in a space rocket.

Not only that, but children can take a giant leap for mankind, trying out the hook and loop astronaut shoes, and walking across a replica moon surface.

Plus, your very own moment can be captured in history with a photo of you on the moon, certificate and ‘mission complete’ badge to take home.

Velcro Companies played an instrumental part in the Apollo 11 space mission, with NASA engineers using Velcro Brand products in a variety of ways.

These included heat shields, watch straps, feeding tubes, breathing apparatus storage, to anchor astronauts’ feet in boots, keeping instruments and tools organised securely inside the spacecraft, fastening camera equipment and attaching nose scratching sticks inside helmets.

As part of a wider campaign celebrating the 50th anniversary lunar landings, Velcro Companies has also commissioned multiplatinum, Juno Award-winning artist, Walk Off The Earth, to release a cover of classic song ‘Walking On The Moon’.

Walk Off The Earth reimagined incorporating VELCRO Brand products as musical instruments, to create a one-of-a-kind percussion sounds in a music video.

Velcro Companies’ interactive experience of the moon landing will be in the educational and science section of Bluedot Festival.
