DOZENS of people enjoyed four hours of yoga at a major event raising awareness of mental health issues associated with eating disorders.

Lucy Alves and Holmes Chapel resident Nicola Wellington hosted a Mind Over Matter Yoga and Wellness Day at Everybody’s Holmes Chapel Community Centre.

The event raised £1,300 for the Cheshire West Eating Support Team (CWest).

The event is the second fundraiser initiated by Lucy Alves, who continues to raise money for local charities through positive mental wellbeing, yoga and Bowen therapy.

The event attracted 80 people, who were offered four hours of yoga led by local teachers, alongside luxury spa experiences such as Tropics Facials and Reflexology, in addition to relaxation remedies including Bowen and Reiki.

Zentangling and Mandala drawing instilled therapeutic and creative energy in the café area, in addition to cocktail and mocktail infusions and traybake niceties, with the Orange Tang hitting the spot for hydration replenishment following an afternoon of yoga.

The day concluded with a raffle draw, with CWest founder Helen Davies announcing the winners and speaking about the service available for those suffering with or caring/supporting people with eating disorders.

Donations were made on the day and via the JustGiving crowdfunding page.

Nicola said: “Thank you to Everybody and to everyone who donated their time, money and prizes and gave their support to the Mind Over Matter Yoga and Wellness Day.

“Lucy and I have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness.”
