FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire near to Wilmslow Academy last night.
One fire engine from Wilmslow Fire Station was sent to Handforth Road at 8.30pm after receiving reports of a fire in a tree stump near the secondary school.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: βOn arrival they found the fire had already been extinguished by members of the public using buckets of water, but firefighters used a water backpack and thermal imaging camera to make sure it was completely out. They were in attendance for around 20 minutes.β
