KNUTSFORD Golf Club members raised more than £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in an epic 72-hole golf day at Knutsford Golf Club.

The Macmillan 'Longest Day' is a charity golf event where groups of four embark on a day of golf all with the aim of raising money for the charity

Martin Clement, 59, and his son Matt Clement, 31, from Middlewich Road, Northwich, were joined on the day by Knutsford Golf Club secretary John Horsley, 66, and his son David, 32, of Grassfield Way, Knutsford and Fairbourne Avenue, Alderley Edge, respectively.

The team decided to enter the event and raise funds for Macmillan after losing family members and friends to cancer.

Matt said: “It truly was a hard slog, but the support we received from friends, family and Knutsford members has been fantastic, and on behalf of the team I want to thank them all for their support and sponsorship."

Trevor Webb, captain of Knutsford Golf Club, said: "We are very proud of Martin, Matt, John and David.

"They are fantastic members of our club and to raise such an amount for such a worthwhile charity in the way they have done is truly commendable."
