NORTHWICH Lit Fest has again pulled out all the stops to deliver an exciting month of events across the town.

Held throughout June, events included a wide range of authors, writers, performances and more – culminating in a ‘magical’ one-man show by musician and performer Richard Strange.

Organiser Susi Osborne said: “It went really, really well – particularly the last event.

“Richard Strange did a one-man show about his life and career and it was absolutely amazing – it was like being at an O2 concert but at Davenham Theatre.

“It was just one of those Lit Fest moments that was quite magical.

“We had so many great events – the first Ladies Lunch at Hartford Golf Club, the short story competition was popular again and we used Adba for the first time which was a really good venue.

“We had a varied and exciting range of authors who all went down really well.

“It’s getting Northwich known nationwide – it’s amazing how that has happened.”

Northwich Lit Fest continues to pull in big names, and is fast becoming established as a go-to in the national calendar for authors and fans alike.

Cllr Derek Bowden told fellow Northwich Town Council members that they should be doing all they could to support the programme, which he said was great fun and kicked the stereotype of a high brow literary event.

He said: “I went to some of the events and they were absolutely superb. Most of them were not fully attended and that was such a waste

“The wider regeneration of Northwich is about building this town and not just the physical businesses and the physical properties – it’s about the mindset of the town.

There is so much that goes on that is so fruitful, but it isn’t well known and well attended. I would like to congratulate the organisers on setting up an excellent programme.

“I have been to other town that hold this type of event and are quite well-known for what they do, and they weren’t as good as this. This is a high-level event and it isn’t appreciated locally – we should be doing more about that.”
