TATTON MP Esther McVey will not be the next prime minister after she was eliminated from the Conservative leadership contest.
She received the fewest number of votes in the first round of the contest – nine – behind Mark Harper and Andrea Leadsom, who have also been eliminated.

Contenders needed 17 votes from their fellow Tory MPs to progress to the next round, and all 313 Conservative MPs voted.
