A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was asked to get into a stranger's car in Bexton Lane on Thursday (yesterday) evening.

Police are urging residents to be vigilant after the teenager's path was blocked by a dark green car as she was walking towards Knutsford at about 6.15pm.

One of the two men in the car asked for directions to a fast food restaurant, and then asked the girl to get into the car.

She ignored them and fled on foot, at which point they drove off towards Knutsford.

They were described as white, and are estimated to be aged between 55 and 60.

The driver of the car had a slim build, stubble on his face and crooked yellow teeth and was wearing a cap. The passenger had a large build.

Insp Catherine Mitchell of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit said: “At this stage it appears to be an isolated incident.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would like to reassure the public that at no point was there any physical contact between the men, who remained in the car throughout, and the girl.

“Understandably, the incident is likely to cause concern in the local community, and we have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance. If anyone has any concerns they should speak to an officer.

“I also want to urge people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.”

Anyone with any information which may help the investigation is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 421387.
