VIOLINIST Mischa Lindan, who survived the world’s worst nuclear disaster, is to perform at Brook Street Chapel in Knutsford on Tuesday, June 18.

Mischa, 32, a Belarusian, was brought to the UK by the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline Charity and studied the violin at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester.

Sir Paul McCartney heard of Mischa’s outstanding talent and paid £10,000 towards his fees.

Mischa also studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the San Sebastian Music Academy.

He is regarded as one of the best virtuoso violinists in Europe, and has a wide repertoire.

Brook Street Chapel is on Adams Hill, and the concert starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 and the proceeds go to the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline Charity. For tickets call 01565 632673 or 01565 754465.

Mischa grew up in Burtonwood near Warrington after he was caught in the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 and moved to the UK at the age of 11.

Thanks to the Chernobyl Children's LifeLine, Mike Hewitt and his family offered Mischa a permanent home and the chance to follow his musical dreams.

The charity was established in 1992 to support the children and their families from Belarus and Ukraine affected by the world's worst nuclear disaster.

Belarus received more than 70 per cent of the radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear explosion in April 1986, and as a result, thousands are born every year with, or go on to develop thyroid cancer, bone cancer and leukaemia.
