CHESHIRE-based clothing company Cotton Traders has beaten its £1 million fundraising target after hosting a charity golf day and gala dinner.

The event was held at the Mere Resort and Spa in aid of long-term charity partner Help For Heroes.

Guests enjoyed a day’s golfing, a three-course meal and live music entertainment in the evening.

Cotton Traders have been supporting the military fund since 2011 and, following the success of the Mere event, have now generated £1.2 million for ex-servicemen and women and their families.

As well as the annual golf and dinner gala, the leisurewear retailer organised a Three Peaks Challenge and Coast to Coast bike ride, donates proceeds from their 5p plastic carrier bag charge and helps customers donate online.

Their work in support of Help For Heroes has seen them shortlisted for best long-term charity partnership at the Corporate Engagement Award in London on June 12.

As part of their ongoing support, Cotton Traders is now providing funding for a Heroes Recovery Centre in Catterick, North Yorkshire.

Cotton Traders CEO Nick Hamblin said: “This year’s event has been absolutely fantastic, and we’re so pleased to be able to raise even more money for this brilliant charity so it can continue to support those who have suffered in the line of duty."

Invictus Games athlete Pete Dunning, a Help for Heroes Ambassador and guest speaker at the event said: “Cotton Traders have worked tirelessly to support our cause and we are truly humbled by their incredible donations.

“From the sales of merchandise to fundraiser events, they’re always looking for ways in which they can help us.

“Every donation helps those lives have been affected by their Service, and their families, to live independent and fulfilling lives.”
