A MAN bit a shop worker during an attempted theft at Iceland on the retail park.
Police were called around 12.30pm yesterday, Thursday, May 23 to reports of an attempted theft and assault at Iceland on St Helens Retail Park.
It was reported that a staff member had attempted to stop a suspected shoplifter who had bitten him on the arm, causing swelling.
The man ran off and CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.
No items were stolen.

Community Policing Inspector Matt Drennan said: "This was an appalling incident which has left a member of staff distressed and injured.
"If you witnessed the incident or have any information, please come forward and we will do the rest.
"We are determined to find the person responsible and ensure that people who live, work and shop in St Helens continue to be safe in their day-to-day lives."
