About 150 people took part in Beating the Bounds on Sunday.

Organisers were delighted with the weather and raised £9,000 for East Cheshire Hospice.

This was the third year for Beating the Bounds.

“Our aim is to bring together various parts of the local community for a fun day out Plus work together to raise money for East Cheshire Hospice,” said organiser Ned Spencer.

“Of the 150 who took part, roughly 20 did the 15 mile run, 90 did the 15 mile walk and 40 did the eight mile walk. Refreshments were provided throughout the day for everyone including a great BBQ at the end.

“Local businesses, sports clubs, families, walkers and dog lovers took part. There was a great atmosphere throughout the day.”

Local businesses supporting the event included Wilmslow Rugby Club, Bullocks Coaches, The Merlin, The Great Little Red Bus, Estimators Online, Mailboxes Etc, Coates Transport, Peter Herds Bakery, Sainsburys, Waitrose and Swizzels.

Ned said: “A lot of work went in to organising the day. But it was worth it to hear people say how much they enjoyed it plus together we raised about £9,000 for East Cheshire Hospice.

“Money is still coming in so this could increase further. If anyone thinks they could contribute they can do this at www.justgiving.com/Ned-Spencer3.”

One participant said: “Just to say a big thank you for a superb and well organised BtB walk, I really enjoyed it and we were blessed with perfect weather cool and cloudy on the walk and brilliant sunshine at the end. Congratulations to all the volunteers involved. I plan to do the one next year.”
