ARMED police were sent to Weaverham last night on the hunt for a man carrying a large knife in the street.
Police received reports at around 7.45pm on Monday of an 'altercation' involving three men in the area of the Northwich Road shops - one of the men was seen carrying a large knife.
Armed police were deployed to the area and carried out a thorough search, but the man was not found.
Insp Alex Cairns said: "We received a call with a description of a male who was said to be carrying a large knife in the street in Weaverham near to Tesco.
"As is procedure for any incidents where a large weapon is thought to be involved, we dispatched armed police officers.
"We haven't found the male, but during the search we arrested a male for drugs related offences, which was completely seperate to the call we received."
Police have confirmed that there were no reports of assaults.
Cheshire Police have now released a description of the man and are asking for anyone with any information regarding the incident to get in touch.
