TATTON Perk owner Mark Lee-Kilgariff will be back at Moorside all day this Sunday only a week after being told he could trade there for only two hours at a time.

Mark received a new version of his Street Trader Licence today (Friday), from Cheshire East Council, which states that he could trade at Moorside all day on Sunday.

Mark said: "This was the news I was hoping for. Without the staggering amount of support the public have given me over the past few weeks, it's likely that Knutsford Town Council's vote to reject Tatton Perk would have been carried by Cheshire East.

"So, if you fancy a coffee over the weekend, the old orange coffee van will be at Toft Cricket Club on Saturday and at the Moor Park all day on Sunday."

Mark decided to stop trading from Moorside last Friday after Cheshire East Council renewed his street trader licence with conditions he said made trading next to the Moor unworkable and not cost-effective.

His renewed licence stipulated that Tatton Perk’s Moorside trading time was limited to two hours before Mark had to move to one of his other sites.

He could then return to Moorside, said the council, after a ‘significant amount of time, for example trading for two hours, moving to another site for an hour, then returning to Moorside for another two hours’.

The town council’s planning and licensing committee had voted to object to Mark’s application for a renewal of Tatton Perk’s street trader licence.

Knutsford Guardian:

The committee said Moorside trading by Tatton Perk would harm nearby town centre businesses, and siting the pitch on a congested road near a children’s playground could create road safety problems.

The committee’s objection went to Cheshire East, which also received an 847-name petition backing Mark’s fight to continue at Moorside.

Mark was determined to fight on, and has been contacting Cheshire East Council this week to plead his case.

It appears to have paid off, with Mark attributing his success in obtaining a licence for all-day trading on a Sunday at Moorside in part to being 'persistent and meticulous about detail' and hopefully the public support he has received.

The licence also allows Mark to trade for two hours per session at Moorside from Monday to Saturday.
